Myth of a Summer Moon Review

Jane White, Austin College

Using the Greek legend ties the book together well —quite an artistic technique and a pull on the reader throughout the story.

The characters won me over! Frankie: feisty enough, strong enough, and sensitive enough to make me love her. Jimmy had such insights for a boy his age; many kids do not have such insights. Helena, supposedly slow in cognitive abilities, grew in her understanding of herself.

The story was a wonderful read, had great lessons for kids to learn, and pulled me in from the very beginning. Images throughout took my breath away.
